Historical Development

Rooted in the Dominican motto Contemplare et Contemplata Aliis Tradere, which means to contemplate and share the fruits of one’s contemplation, Dominican College remains steadfast in its mission to form individuals guided by faith, study, and service. Established by the Spanish Dominican Sisters in the early 1920s, the institution began as Academia de Santa Catalina, a small school devoted to nurturing both spiritual and intellectual growth. Over time, it expanded its programs in response to the needs of the community, guided by the same spirit of truth and compassion. Although its journey was challenged by the events of World War II, the Sisters’ enduring dedication to education and evangelization became the firm foundation on which Dominican College continues to stand today.
